Days 1–2 — Start gently in Kunming, with a lakeside and city-life chapter.

Days 3–5 — Use Dali as a change of scale: the old town, lake and mountain landscape on separate days.

Days 6–8 — Continue the cultural thread in Lijiang, choosing time in the old-town areas rather than accumulating stops. Connections must be checked before this sequence becomes a workable itinerary.
