Tengchong’s attractions are not one walkable town centre. Connect your accommodation with one main interest first, leaving room for the scale of the landscape.
Name the destination after the airport
Tengchong Tuofeng Airport is the local air gateway. Save your accommodation’s full Chinese address and distinguish the urban area from Heshun. The name “Tengchong” alone does not identify a pickup destination.
Clarify the transfer, luggage and final entrance before adding sightseeing to arrival day. Compare public transport with a ground transfer; neighbouring map markers do not establish a convenient walk.
Volcanic landforms and hot springs are separate visits
The volcanic park presents volcanic cones and lava landscapes; Rehai presents geothermal springs and steam. They are separate places. Heshun’s streets and Beihai Wetland offer two further, different settings.
Choose landforms, a town walk or a wetland first, then consider connections. Visiting Rehai does not automatically include bathing. Entering an old town does not make its private courtyards public.
Use published routes to understand the connections
The transport bureau’s 2025 list includes Route 6 between Heshun and Rehai, Route 10 via Beihai Wetland and a dedicated volcanic-park service. Use it for orientation, then confirm current stops and departures.
Rehai has high-temperature springs and steam. Observe from designated paths and behind barriers; do not touch spring water or treat a scenic spring as a bathing pool. Identify the return waiting point and read that day’s access notices.
Sliced rice cakes or rice-cake noodles?
Dajiujia uses stir-fried erkuai slices. Ersi comes in preparations including clear or sour broth. Choose slices or strands, fried or in soup, then ask about meat, egg and chilli. A dish’s name is not an ingredient list.
Use the full place name
Rehai Scenic Area, Heshun Old Town and Beihai Wetland identify different destinations. Match the address, entrance and return connection before leaving.
Leave space between places, and between different kinds of experience.
